Hello Friday... we have our eye caught on some good design

With the Danish poster brand ViSSEVASSE I am never sure if I love their prints or if I am drawn to them as I see them so often in great designed spaces. I think I love them but they don't really fit into my own home. There is something about them that works like a magnet. In the same way I was immediately drawn to this wallpaper. Normally the prints I go for are much more outspoken. But this almost mens shirt like pattern looks pretty amazing. Combined with a delicate pendant lamp and a minimalistic floor lamp makes this a good design.

Kids Tuesday... a splash of colour goes a long way

I love it how a collage comes together. It all starts with one item I come across either on Internet in general, Pinterest or Instagram. If the light switch in my head goes on it's the start of a collage. For this one it was the speckled wallpaper. From there I build layer after layer until happy to present the inspiration to you.

Speckled wallpaper | ByAlex cushion | Little Dorm wallshelf by Ferm Living | Small Sophie floor lamp | Belear home dolce vita pink by Nobodinoz | Chambray longsleeve dress by Corby Tindersticks | Lighthink box by Seletti

I am definately a fan of the ByAlex items. Love the fabric choice and the details like that little tassel. Bonus is that it has a quick clean option if you have spills. The rug is by Brita Sweden and is made from recycled PET bottles. You should feel it as it is incredibly soft. Feels just like fabric. Add some new classics such as the Ferm Living little dorm wallhanger and the Slim Sophie floorlamp and you have an amazing room.

Hello Friday... Dare to be different!

This may take a bit of a dare because of the bold prints and the vibrant orange. But how can you not fall instantly in love with this large throw by Slowdown studio. Maybe if you repeat the seeds print in the wallpaper and combine some of the colours in the rest of the styling you can tone down the madness a bit. But honestly... who would want to. With a design like this you are looking to be different and to stand out. In a good way.

Kids Tuesday.... Where the cool kids hang out

My kids are still young ones but I often think what would be a nice room for an older boy? I so hope my kids won't come home saying I want a soccor room mom. Although I did write a cool inspiration blog about that for an online platform once. I would prefer to stick with great finds and solid good brands to create a special place. A fun room where the cool kids can hang out.

Hello Friday.... things we like, things we love

Why are the things we like always affordable and the things we love just out of reach of my wallet. It brings me to dispair at times. Luckily companies such as IKEA help out with collabs with designers and nice new collections. My plan is to combine the things I like and the things I love and to create a happy home. Sources from different continents such as Japanese fabric, an Australian throw and an American pillow. Let's have an international nest.

Kids Tuesday... as if I am drawn to my wild side

Want a room that stands out from the rest but don't really know where to start? My suggestion is start with a killer cool wallpaper. Like this 'Jungle dream'.
I'm a fan of LiveLoudGirl (as she knows) and I watched her MyStories last week where she gave a sneak preview on a wallpaper she was putting up for the boys. I loved the one she showed for the print but I wanted something with a more white background tone.

Party lights | Wallpaper Jungle Dream by Aimee Wilder | Pax and Hart Sir Scout poster | Stay Weird print by Blacklist shop | Menu Afteroom coat rack | Round spotted cotton rug by H&M | A little lovely company Neon style lightning bolt light | ByAlex playmat Velvet brown | Decoris plastic (garden) chair in taupe

So after being inspired by hers and my previous 'sloth' wallpaper the search continued. Leading me to this amazing wallpaper by Aimee Wilder called Jungle Dream. After the wallpaper box is ticked off you need lighting. I've gone for one of those strings with party lights. And than the playmat. I hear you thinking... my teenage boy with a playmat? Mums, all kids need a relax corner and this has a washable cover! Put it over a daybed and you're done! Nice to say a it can be a reading nook but let's keep it real there will be either an iPad or Playstation involved. As for the chair. I am in love. A pretty and traditional design with the modern day looks and comfort of it being plastic and therefor easy to clean. I love this little room and can see it come to life when I close my eyes.

Hello Friday.... enough hibernation let's go outside!

We love to spend time at our #glampingouddorp hide away by the Dutch coast. So when I came across this image by Ruth Hengeveld (she made it for an illustration competition in 2014) I was triggered to look for some fun and stylish campsite items. And these items made it on my wish list (easily!). The EDDYBOY outdoor sofa can be connected to your central heating system making it the most comfortable thing ever. A comfortable place to sit and watch my kids have hours of fun with this AquaFlow water play, or while they sit and enjoy a little picnic at this Fermob Children's Picnic hut or as they cycle round and round on this bananarama veloretti kids bike. Image Ruth Hengeveld | EDDYBOY sofa | Brita Sweden Helmi outdoor rug | Fermob Children's Picnic hut | AquaFlow waterplay | Maxi Bananarama kids bike by Veloretti

Do you know the saying 'the best things in life are free'. I agree, a smile, a hug or a sunny day don't have a price tag. But there are so many more nice things in life that somehow do have a hefty price tag. If only they were free as well.

Hello Friday.... Fresh blue with real treasures

Seletti lamp one, two, three | Poster 'Taurus' by Crisp Sheets | Bedding eye | Mun 11 table by SlowWood | Jacquard woven rug by H&M Home | Terrazzo hook one, two by Zakkia | Leopard love pillow case set by Crisp Sheets

Is it time to freshen up your bedroom than tink about combining affordable with some timeless design. For bedding you have such a wide selection these days that you don't really have to stick to crisp white sheets. It can be fun to make your bedsheets the eye catcher in the room. And I have fallen in love with these terrazzo wall hooks from Australia. Travelling to Oz this summer and have some space to spare in your suitcase do let me know.

Enjoy your Friday and have a great weekend.
See you next Kids Tuesday!

Kids Tuesday... a living room kids corner we can say 'YAY' to

A cute stylish kids room in the living room should be possible right. Yes as long as you have a kick ass large cabinet with lots of storage to store the toys in when not played with. When decorating a kidscorner for the living room my advise would be go with a bit more designer style items that can be used by kids. Like this table from Onshus, the wall light and the storage bag. For the chairs I've chosen one vintage Karin Mobring (from my own collection) that I have painted black when faded too much and a little chair from Mum and Dad Factory.

On the Muuto and WOOOD shelf you can display one or two favourite books and some cute small storage boxes or toys that are easy on the eye. Some of these items were placed in my VT Wonen voorjaarshuis (spring home) competition entry.

Hello Friday... lazy like a sloth in a design kind of way

When we visited the Singapore Zoo we would often try to find the sloth. Such an interesting creature. I was very amused when I came across this little Sloth twoseater on Instagram. That sparkled the idea for this new blogpost. I knew Motiflow had a Sloth print in their collection that you can order as fabric or as wallpaper. So this is my version of Sloth in a design kind of way.

Kids Tuesday.... a modern romantic lush pinkish girls room

Girls love pink. But mommies... do we think we can shift them into a more coral shade of pink. It combines greatly with this rusty brown. And ever since I received Studio Pop Object started following me on Instagram I've been intrigued by their origami lamps. I'm pretty sure I need that fish!

Hello... SUNDAY?!? I'm joining the give away of the year

Once a year the Dutch magazine VT Wonen hosts an amazing give away called #vtwonenvoorjaarshuis. You can win € 10.000,- of products from their shop. Only a few rules. It has to be the exact amount, you have to put it together on the 19th of March and it has to be items for the entire household. A restyle to get your home ready for Spring. Most likely you also have to live in the Netherlands but I'm not sure about that...

Here is the overview of what I have shopped together. Must be honest... I added a few items to the image that would be 'private collection' as you often see mentioned in the magazine. But I wanted to give an overall overview of the style I am aiming for. And things like wallpaper and certain lamps need to be added.

I also joined the give away last year and wrote a blog about it. Find my 2016 entry here. This give away has only one winner but doesn't have any losers. Cause spending an entire day putting together your ideal interior is a party for everyone. Although this year I do hope to win as I am eager to get a white floor again. And I would love to see this mood board put together in real life.

Hello Friday... am I out of control?

In this collages my starting point was a little mommy corner. Somewhere to have a moment to yourself with a good read or a little iPad moment when the kids haven't confiscated the devise. Some me-time that we all need every now and than.

Rope lamp black | Good Morning poster | Rohini printed daybed (on sale!) | Leopard pillow case by Society of Wanderers | Hoppmosse 1452 wallpaper from the Wonderland collection by Borastapeter | Terracotta Cotton crochet blanket by Society of Wanderers | Pax and Hart poster Leopard | Daybed cube by House Doctor (found one on sale!)

My love for the Scandinavian interior style that is light, functional with eye for design hasn't changed. But when living in Singapore I read the Real Living magazine a lot and the eclectic style from the Australians also really speaks to me. So I try to combine the best of both worlds.

I enjoy these collages so much. My 'creations' are getting more out of control but for me more interesting. I don't want to copy and paste the trends that I see on instagram but create my own style. Without a doubt I am influenced by the trends but I only take highlights from them.

Kids Tuesday.... step into my saloon

This weekend I enjoyed a lunch with a few fellow bloggers at Piet Hein Eek restaurant in Eindhoven. Never fails to inspire me to go there. And the fun part is we had two bloggers with us who had never been so it was nice to see it through their fresh eyes. I love a lamp combination I had seen there. For my blog I was looking for a more affordable solution to bring this style to your home.

Lamp yellow | Lamp purple | lamp red | Lamp diabolo white | Lamp blue | Lamp white | Poster cowgirl cat | Poster I should have been a cowboy | Mum & Dad factory Rock shelves | Popcorn bolster cushion | Rose Billy basket | Wallpaper by Piet Hein Eek | Chair by Piet Hein Eek for IKEA from the JASSA series

The blog lunch was with Yvestown, Maandagdaandag, Wimke Tolsma and Elske Enstra. The first two long time blog friends and the other two names I've known for ages but ladies I had never met. So I had a great time meeting them and talking about blogging, networking and life in general.

Hello Friday... let's skip Spring and go straight to Summer

We get hints of Spring with occasional sunny days. It makes me a very greedy person because now I want to skip Spring and go straight to summer. I long for the long evenings, the warmth on your skin and the easy to wear dresses. Therefor I've made a Summer mood board to keep me going for the next few months.

Wallpaper Paradise Breeze R13321 | Muuto yellow UNFOLD lamp | Wallpaper Desert gold by Hygge & West (designed by Justina Blakeney) | Pillow golden palm trees | Pillow yellow velvet | Halo by Quentin de Coster (how cool is that!) | HK Living palm lamp | Slow chair pink by Vitra looking very pretty in the home of Zilverblauw

Pink is a colour that seems to have set firmly in my mind. I love the wallpaper of the see in all shades of pink, purple and blue only I don't think I'd be brave enough to put this one up. On the other hand... try and like it or try and replace it. The yellow is (besides my kids favourite colour) also a warm sunny colour that brings instant Summer to your home.

And the pink chair comes with a bit of a story. It's found a warm and welcoming home at my blogging friend Anki's house. She has won it with a contest on the VT Wonen woon & design expo. I can say fair and square as I was there with her. Of course it makes you envious but this chair could not have found a better home than with Anki. It's made for her and I am happy that as a hard working creative she has won something this cool!!!

Kids Tuesday... one for the boys

I am currently working on my website for my creative freelance business. More about that later when I feel it's ready to launch. One of the segments in the portfolio is the work I do for a kids platform. I've expressed my dream there which is to style at least 2 kids room per month. I love making combinations that may be with items that you don't buy in the kids department. Just so that you can love them some more at another place when your kid grows out of his room.

For this mood board I've combined designer items with some lovely wallpapers and kept the tones earthy brown and green and dark blue. This combines beautiful with all kinds of wood and a large rattan rug. The Boras wallpaper is supposed to be vertical but I prefer it horizontal. So I don't always take things the way they come. When doable I give them my own twist.

String of lights (I've bought mine here) | Askov Finlayson wallpaper for Hygge & West | The Jungalow mobile in black | Pax and Hart poster 'Roll with it' (still a favourite) | Blue bugs print by Liljebergs | Borosan Easy Up 14 wallpaper by Bor√•stapeter | Dots wall hooks by Muuto | Mini mod (de luxe) bean chair by HomeDay in Australia | Folded shelves by Muuto

Hello Friday... let's mix it all up!

As there is so much of 'one style' that dominates my feed on Instagram I want to rebel a bit. So I am going all out with this mix of industrial, romantic, graphic and design for a bedroom. And funny enough I would really like to style a room like this. I already have the poster at home so all I need is the rest. Would it not be great if there was a hotel that would invite bloggers and stylists to style a room. Maybe I should look into this... For sure this would be my entry. And I would come and stay for as long as they let me.

Hello Tuesday... what's on your wall

What some women have with shoes I have with posters. So many already stacked up each other in a frame and still so many on my wish list. It's an easy way to change the atmosphere and show your personal style. I'm very much in a pink blush, light and airy mood. Is it Spring coming? Who knows...

Skiing | Please excuse the mess | Storytile | Rock | Kiss | neon UGH | Home is where my mum is | Pink Rock | Pink marble | Monkey lamp | Pink rock print

Another thing that has been on my mind a lot lately are rocks. Beautiful, colourful, natural rocks. Call them Crystals, Gem Stones or trend rocks. I call them mesmerising. This week I got confirmed what I already thought. Was preparing for a fun project for these rocks but the job fell through. You win some, you loose some and I hope they will achieve their goals themselves. To show I still am very excited about their concept I've added some rocks in my post this week. Maybe some day...

And mess... we live in a constant mess. Can't even blame all of it on my two young boys. I am quite a messy person myself. Plus I do feel the quote is right. No need to live in a showroom. A house needs to be a home that is lived in and loved. So it can get a bit messy at times.

Hello Friday... some Spring favourite as the sun is shining

One ray of sunlight and I am done with winter, frost, snow and cold. I want SUNSHINE. So let's welcome it big time. Last week we had ShowUp in the Netherlands, a home and gift shop trade fair and it was a world of fun. Each addition keeps getting better. I have spotted a few goodies there and added some of the brand I represented at the fair. I am so looking forward to spring and summer. Can't wait!

Kids Tuesday... In love with the COS collection

I own one dress from COS. When I visit the shop I find it difficult to find items I like. To me it all feels a bit too much concept. But when I visited the online store I came across a kids collection and fell in love with so many items. Specially the girls collection. I hope you like it as well as my little 'out of the box' visit to kids fashion. Must be a result of my curating for the Girlslabel platform.

Favourite Friday... feeling crafty

My go to place if I want to get crafty and need some inspiration is still Pinterest. Sure some links don't work anymore but for most DIY's you don't really need a tutorial. Besides not everything is a DIY. Some of the examples are sold out items from shops that I think could easily be a DIY. All you need is some common sense and the guts to go ahead and try it. What's the worst that can happen... that it doesn't look like the picture? Who knew you were making it based on a Pinterest inspiration in the first place...

Here are some of my favourite finds. Must admit... haven't made any of these yet. Kind of how it goes with most pins right?

Chop your own wood sign | Wall hanger by Fine Little Day | Plywood Floor mirror with shelves | Pinapple planter | Globe lamp | Smal shaggy stool | Crate turned into stool | Let's make stuff wall hanger | Multi pixel woven pouf

We really need to salute the creators. And treasure the makers who take the time to teach us by tutorial how to do it. I love to make stuff. It is a huge gratification when you know the beauty you are looking at is made by your own effort. Sometimes you fail and sometimes you succeed enormously. The victories of the last usually fade the downside of the first. Happy making to you all!!!

Hello Tuesday.... a bedroom mood board

Lamp House Doctor | String of pearls plant | poster 'love life & family' Bodie and Fou | LIVE LAUGH LOVE wooden letters | clothes rack Tine K Home | bedding HEMA | bench Fermob | cotton throw Brita Sweden | Muuto rug PLY in black and white

I came across this Eijffinger wallpaper twice and both times with relations to VT Wonen. First at their trend home on the VTWonen woon and design fair and recently on the instagram account of one of their employees. That in addition with this beautiful small dotted bedding by HEMA made me want to make a bedroom mood board. I chose to stay in the neutral tones and added some interest by the materials of the sofa, lamp and the typography of the poster.

Hello Friday.... two days late

Party confetti | Party hats by Meri Meri | Pass the parcel | XXL party animal mural | HAAISUUS bear paper mache head | drinking goggles straw (try your local party shop, I got mine at Action) | Party animal birthday cake (must admit I combined 3 recipes to get to this result, and it was very good!)

I know I am very very late. Not even stylish late anymore. But last Friday (I feel an excuse coming up) my oldest son had his birthday party. He is now a sweet 5 year old. We had 8 kids in the age of 3 to 5 for a fun afternoon at our home. In the week before I crafted a wall with XXL party animals, chose a recipe for the birthday cake and came up with some fun activities for the kids. No overload because I wanted to let them just play and enjoy themselves. That worked very well.

The only activity I had was a 'pass the parcel' game. I wrapped present over present over present until I had two presents for each kid wrapped. I ended up with a massive parcel to start the game with. Each kid had their own wrapping paper and we played music. Holding my checklist on who's paper was who's I stopped in time and they each had their turn to unwrap. Serious fun and very rewarding as they all got a few goodies to take home. I can recommend this for all ages and would say google it and go with it. My personal madness addition was a confetti canon that I let the birthday boy unwrap halfway the game to add to the festive atmosphere.

Another tip is a straw in the shape of a pair of glasses. Make sure you unwrap and assemble them before the start of the party cause that takes a bit of time. The kiddos loved them and got to takes these home as well. Received several thank you messages by the mothers saying it was a huge hit.

Hope you also have good parties and if you have great tips do share them with me. I love that!

TIP: making the party hats for animals is a tough job. Looks fun and easy but make sure you have a bit of time. And instead of pompoms I pushed a bit of pipe cleaner in the top of the hat. Stays in place much better and gives the same effect.

TIP: the animal with the cute yellow spotted hat is from HAAISUUS and made by Susan Meijerink. Besides making beautiful animals heads she is now starting to host workshops. I would say if you are in the area and have two days to spare to learn a new skill than go go go!

Kidsroom Tuesday.... a modern day boy scout

There is so much fun stuff available to create a room for a little woodland adventurer, a little modern day boy scout. This collage started with the 'Be my wolf pack' banner and lead me to many items I had seen before and that fit very well in this theme. The tipi lamp is a new discovery as well as the watermelon seed wallpaper. Good fun this blogging being always on the look out for fun items to combine. I hope you like it.

Hello Friday.... let's go outside

Hi there you all this Friday. In the Netherlands it has been freezing a few days and this means we can most likely enjoy some ice skating this weekend. First time for the kids so it should be fun. After a fun day outside and defrosting inside it is nice to have a retreat of a bedroom to return to. I've put together a bedroom with items from all over the world. Hope you like it.

Hello Tuesday... Huh Tuesday???

_ As I was chosen to be the #instagrammeroftheweek by Meettheblogger on Instagram I want to treat you to some extra posts this week _

I still live with my parents. No not me, but as long as one of my kids wears a t-shirt like this I feel I should be allowed to design their room. Wonder how long I can keep up this tough mama 'my roof, my design' attitude. Lucky for them I have an overflow of ideas so there will be enough changes. Here are some of my current favourites.

Rice paper yellow lamp by Petit Pan | Playmats It's a wild jungle baby and Meet the forest from ByAlex Playmats | Little Quote Jar by Make History | Woood Meert wall shelves | Dino Daw Diplodocus 3 print pack | Yellow paint by Flexa | Nobodinoz storage basket | T-shit I SSTILL LLIVEE WHITT MMYY :) PARENTS by Mango | Cushion Peacock pois by La Cerise sur le gateau | Mustard yellow cushion with tassels by H&M

I love the lightness of the rice paper lamp and my son is a huge fan of the color yellow. So that was an easy choice. The playmats do come at a price but they are so much fun and versatile in use. Plus if ever the kids are done with them I would like to snatch them for myself for a cosy corner. The little quote jar is designed by someone I know and I still find this the best idea ever. If you don't write them down you really do forget the quirky things your kids come up with. Some shelves to store the best looking toys is always a good idea and for boys you just cannot go wrong with a good dinosaur. These come from Dino Raw in Australia. A really nice selection of dino posters and prints you can draw on. For storage I chose Nobodinoz as I love a bit of extra texture in a room. These are quilted so they look that bit more unique. The shirt is fun. I should get one in each size until the age of say... 18? The pillows are to make a comfy corner extra comfy.

Hello Friday... some girls bedroom inspiration

This is part of a feature I've written for Girlslabel that will be posted later this week. I love writing by assignment for others. It pushes me to think and write about things that I normally wouldn't write about. This is a bonus blog I did for the platform so I could keep it within my LilleLykke style.

I wrote the blog after seeing a modern tiled wallpaper online. But seeing this selection of furniture and accessories I would also love to see this with a black and white patterned wallpaper. Some personal favourites are this one, this one and absolutely this one

Items used for image come mostly from Dutch shops as Girlslabel is a Dutch platform.

Hello Friday... a different new years dip in the ocean

In the Netherlands (and probably many more places) some people take a new years dip in the very cold ocean. Same as for bungee jumping, I don't get the thrill. So for this year I have sourced an alternative. How about you dip your interior in the look and feel of the ocean. Or a kids room if this is too playful for your taste. Happy New Year to you all. And do let me know how you welcome the new year.
