What caught my eye on Pinterest - week 41

It's October and by the way I am selecting colours on Pinterest you can tell we are headed towards she shorter days of winter. I am looking at deep dusty tones and fun accents of blush pink. Not looking for trends, just for what combines well and makes my heart skip a beat. I hope you are looking forward to winter just as much as I am. Want to see more of the images like above or find these in my feed... click here.

H e l l o F r i d a y - Some seriously good kitchen goals

For years and years the kitchen was a place that had to be functional. Ok, there was a choice of coloured door fronts and if you were adventurous you may have taken a coloured back splash. But still a kitchen was a kitchen and function was the main priority. If I would redesign a kitchen I would go about it completely different. Of cours function is still important but a kitchen is often the heart of a home. So it needs style!! There are some of my kitchen goals.

K i d s T u e s d a y - bedroom ideas for a boho chique young girl

As a mother of boys I sometimes dream about styling a pretty girls room. But not too sweet and blushing. It needs some BAM. I have taken some popular brands such as Mrs Mighetto, Numero 74, Hartendief and Fiona Walker and styled them for a boho chique young girl. Let me know what you love about it or what could be missed for as far as you are concerned.

H e l l o F r i d a y - still in my blue and green mood

It's green everywhere you look. Fashion and interior this colour dominates the shelves. The thing I love about green is that it comes in so many different shades. This also makes it very challenging to choose the right colour to paint a wall. I have this problem now as I would like to paint a wall dark green but haven't found the right colour yet. Am hopeful I will succeed at the VT Wonen Woon en Design beurs the coming week.

K i d s T u e s d a y - Blue and blush for fun loving edgy girls

I am in love with the items by Lorena Canals. I love the bold use of colour. The up to date design and the fact that you can machine wash many of their items. For this little girls room I have taken the wall hanging as the start of my design. Combined with the blush tones and sweet swans the blue gives a contrast with just the right edge. I'm in love.

H e l l o F r i d a y - As autumn is approaching I am longing for darkness

I am not sure what it is but at the moment I keep pinning dark walls, dark furniture, dark kitchens. Mostly in a colour scheme of blues and greens. Must be autumn kicking in. Or wait, wouldn't I be influenced by orange, yellows and reds? I googled one of my current favourite colours and it came up as the colour of the year 2015. That makes me feel old knowing that I am no longer 'ahead' in trend. At the same time a colour on your wall should never be about trend. It should be about comfort. So ignore trends and embrace the colours you love. For me it is 'the darkness'... The blue is already on my wall and I've added the leaves this week. All I need is the designer sofa (keep collecting coins for a while) and the dark prints (very affordable).

After getting some new wallpaper for my living room and seeing a very inspirational kids room on a blog (in Dutch so use translate if needed) last week I decided to go for a modern jungle themed kids room. Just hints of jungle. You can finish the theme off with books and bedding if you wish to go all the way.

On Friday I have a 'grown up' version with usage of this wallpaper and wall colour. It is inspired from my living room after all... Now I must go and take my two rolls of wallpaper and get going. Can't wait to see this on the wall.

What caught my eye on Pinterest - week 38

I can't say how regular yet but I am looking forward to sharing my Pinterest inspirations with you all. It shows a bit where my colour interest or theme interest for my blog posts come from. This week I am so drawn to dark greens and deep blue tones. Must be the season changing from summer to autumn/winter. As soon as I find a green fabric suitable for this project I will try to make a sofa cover similar to this one. Love the rough seems and that colour is amazing! As you can see I am also looking forward to comfort food. Salads with warm meet, lovely flatbreads with piles of flavour. And the mary janes.... Not having a daughter has already saved me heaps of money. I would be so so sooo broke if my boys were girls. All I have to worry about are sturdy clothes and shoes. All tips for sturdy and cute are welcome!

This wasn't all I've posted, repined and liked. Follow me on Pinterest to stay in the loop.

K i d s T u e s d a y - This is where the fun stuff happens!

Sometimes I create a fun blog but don't take notes of the places where I found the products. Here is one of those blogs... Many I can still bring home but some. Still too good not to share. Credits known are shown on Instagram.

Kids Tuesday.... is you're kid leaving the nest?

Kids grow up and kids leave the house. When they go to their first own place to stay they are excited. As a mother you are likely dreading the moment. However, let's shake that feeling off and give the kids a good start in their first home away from home. There are some pretty cool products available that can dress up their space to give a young vibrant yet homely feeling.

Small space living (assuming they don't end up in a villa straight away) can still hold some bold statement patterns. I love the graphic wallpaper from the new collection of Brian Yates. Combine this with a romantic feminine (affordable) print from Uniqe and you have a sweet contrast going on. I love the Ercol sofa's. No not the cheapest solution but it's nice to have a living room space you can transform to a sleeping situation in the evening.

Hello Friday.... take me to Palm Springs

School started again this week and although we had a 6 weeks holiday I missed the warm summer feeling. During the holidays I watched 'Our House Rules' Australia and saw a theme 'Palm Springs' pass by for a Townsville garden. That got me curious and after some research I came up with this as my version of the Palm Springs style. Hope you like it.

The accent feature on the fall are wooden tiles from the Australian brand Bonnie and Neal. And a couple of cactus prints are less prickly in your bedroom than an actual cactus. Seemed a better idea to me. The colour scheme of this moodboard is amazing. Good for a sweet holiday feeling to hang on to for the entire year.

Hello Friday - For the hopeless romantics with a desire for some glamorous design

I like to mix and match styles and textures. Starting point for this blog was the floral wallpaper. It asked for some additonal romantic but daring pieces to keep the excitement flowing. And some contrast with slick design for the furniture. All it needs in addition is a pretty wooden floor in just the right tone to compliment the style of the interior.

Difficult to find the right wallpaper? I hope by now my blog proves to be one where you can source a original selection of wallpapers. Still not happy with the options? Try websites such as Spoonflower where you can find a wide range of dessins by numerous illustrators. You can order either fabrics or wallpaper. Another similar site in Europe is Motiflow.

For furniture I tend to source the same websites but somehow this time I landed on the Roche Bobois site. Remember that brand from when I was young. Maybe my grandparents had a sofa from that brand. And this artwork! Wow what a stunner. It's a commercial print so easy on the wallet but definately a lust for the eye.

HK living will always find a warm spot in my heart. I love how this brand has developped and what an international succes it is. When I had my own online business they approached me to sell their wooden tables, serving platters and stools. At the time I didn't really see the potential so declined. Now I wish I could live in a at least 50% HK Living decorated home. Open invitation to this brand... knock on my door again please.

Kids Tuesday... 'mature' wallpapers for kids rooms are unexpected but a lot of fun!

This bedroom styling is definitely inspired by some room I've pinned on Pinterest. I see more and more usage of quite 'mature' wallpapers in kids room and I love it. Expect the unexpected is what makes a kids room stand out for me. And it's smart to use photo from a room you feel inspired by as a red line for the design of your own space. You'll always source items that fit your own taste or budget to make it a good fit for your family. Here I've used quite a few popular brands such as Numero74. You see them all over the internet but as long as you give the styling your own twist it's ok. Plus the choice of fabric and colour is spot on in their collection. Can't beat that!

And can I add one more little secret... The rug is by Lorena Canals and is designed so that you can wash it in your machine!! The looks of an antique berber with the comfort of being able to scrub off your kids spills in the room. Yay!!! sorry that kind of stuff excites me.

Hello Friday.... lazy days in bed ask for layers of luxurious bedding and a stunning bedroom

A bedroom should be a little sanctuary. A parents safe haven yet also inviting for the kids to spend weekend mornings together on the big bed. I've gone for a young fresh and modern look with some contracting colours.

Love the deep dark rug from Habitat. Nice big size with the measurement of 200 x 300 cm and the fringe gives a fun playful effect. Last year I discovered Society of Wanderers in Australia and boy do they understand bedding with that little bit of extra umpfh. Ruffles, quilted blankets in fun prints with a bit of a washed finish... seriously you had me at 'hello'. If the bedding seems a bit above what you normally would pay than get creative. I've chosen very affordable bed side tables from the Swedish company Jotex. And again with the lights... one more expensive designer one (turned out not very expensive actually) and one very affordable one from Jotex. It's all about making smart combination. Both in design and in price.

Kids Tuesday - A playroom paradise with lots of toys for learning by young children

I love a good play area for kids that provides them enough space to take out their toys and let their imagination run loose. Flexibility is much needed as kids have so many options these days they are used to switch from one activity into the other. Cause one minute they want to climb, and the next they want to play (or relax) on a wobbel board. In this soothing green environment kids are being encouraged to explore and learn.

I found a magazine the other day with an interview about my early days of blogging (I started in 2008 can you imagine!!). At the time as an extension of my online shop (that I don't have anymore) and to share my passion of interior. My thoughts were my online shop is a window display full of images of product and not from the atmosphere. I try to create the atmosphere in my collages but sometimes it needs to be complimented by the styled images of the brands themselves. So I will do this more often when I feel it necessary. To underline how awesome the products I select are. Do make sure you also watch this video showing you the versatile ways of using the Wobbel board.

Please note, none of the items in this post have been sponsored. It is all truly based on my personal love and interest and a untamed desire to share.

Kids Tuesday.... a teenage boys room

Let me start by pointing out this post was not sponsored. It is more a matter of holidays and still wanting to post inspirations. To make it a bit easier on myself I've done a one shop stop. A place where I always feel inspired and the urge to buy more than my wallet can carry. All the items on this collage together can be bought for only 432 euros. With lamp, rug, poof, stool etc. I did add two sale items. But it's not a bad price to teen up a boys room. Downside for international readers, it is a Dutch shop. Upside... they do ship internationally from their online shop.

Hello Friday, let's go to bed!

It's weekend and for us the school holidays are about to start. I'll still be blogging on a regular basis. Inspiration doesn't stop just because school is in reces. Here is some bedroom inspiration for you. This was part of my VT Wonen 10.000 euro grand price entry. Didn't win (nor did I expect to as there are 50.000+ participents) but it's good fun to think about your wishes for a bedroom sanctuary.

Hello Friday.... a room full of art and object

Sometimes I come across a home on Pinterest that seems to be from an artist. Full of eclectic objects, well selected art pieces and some touches of timeless design. I often envy those homes because they don't look at trend, just at style and taste. Doesn't matter what is popular on Instagram or where the pieces come from. Some collected during travels, others purchased at a local art gallery.

I did an online test the other day to find out what type you are. From every question I got I chose whatever image held the most colours. So without a doubt this weeks inspiration had to be filled with colours. And why not start with flowers as they come in an array of bright tones.

Kids Tuesday... a little boys room, still sweet with a hint of adventure

Yesterday I assisted a photoshoot for one of my freelance clients. So much fun to do as we got to set up in the showroom of a beautiful kids shop. There were so many brands I really like. Here is a little boys room styling inspired by some of the brands they have and items they sell. Sweet for a little boy, playful by using character cushions and little adventurous by the fishing, camping, sea theme.

Hello Friday.... some bathroom inspiration

Sometimes my brain works in a funny way. I see a fun piece of artwork on Pinterest and my mind starts to decorate a bathroom. Must have something to do with the naked ladies swimming with tigers or something. Who knows! Thank goodness for my blog where I can ventilate the results of these fun brain waves. Here's some bathroom inspiration.

The first one because I like the contrast between the shades of green and the pale pink and coral. Plus an open paint can photo creates a lovely colour palet for moodboards. The middle image (the bathroom one) because I otherwise propably would not have thought of putting these tiles vertical instead of horizontal and I like this 200% better. The one on the right was love at first sight. I am still to find out of this piece was turned into posters cause if yes I want one!

Hello Friday... the alternative to green

Yellow was never my colour. Until my young son chose it as his favourite at the young age of 2. Now I love how bright and sunny it is. And are you like me and do you lack green fingers. Than cactus is the way to go! This wallpaper is a dream. I have loved the watercolor cactus wallpaper by Anewall the first time I saw it. Never thought anything would top it until this one. The sturdy lamp is by a Dutch Designer called Floris Hovers. I met him the first time I visited the Dutch Design week. Bring it all together and you create a lovely room for a modern family.

Kids Tuesday... crisp clean with a touch of blue

How do you achieve a bright, crisp yet welcoming bedroom? I would go for a white based wallpaper such as this tiled one and add some extra pattern, an accent colour (love the midnight blue) and a statement piece like this oversized wall light. It's ok to go a little bit bold on some items. After all aren't these the images we repin all the time? Add the unexpected and you create something special.
Like it? Feel free to pin it.

Hello Friday... when life gives you lemons

For this collage I've chosen some items that seem 'handmade' because of the lines, strokes and delicate materials chosen. Combine this with some sleek designer furniture and a delicately blown glass lamp. For me a good interior has the right amount of tension between styles. It's a fine line but when you get it right you have a dining room your guest will swoon over. The start of this collage was the 'When life gives you lemons' art print by Hôtel Magique. Don't you just love the boldness of it (specially if you order an A1 size). Would look amazing in a black, white and cream dining room.

Kids Tuesday... signed, sealed, delivered!

Me and the boys (3 and 5 year old) are pretty excited to have been asked to test the brilliant helmets by Nutcase. Even tough it is not obligatory (yet) in the Netherlands to wear a helmet we are all about staying safe. After all 'love your brain' as you will need it for the rest of your life. As much as I wanted to pick my own favourites in the fun line up of choice I thought it would be best to have the boys choose.

To make it complete I've curated some fun Micro-step scooters, Scotch and Shrunk clothes and Maa shoes with is. Who knows... maybe the other brands want to tag along. Isn't that why they say the postman always rings twice?

My boys are all about riding their bikes and scooters and even running as fast as they can. Everything is a race at this age. Follow us on Instagram to see and read about the test. And thank you Nutcase for providing us the Fly boy and Union Jack helmets to try. Can't wait for the boys to look all smart wearing them.

Kids Tuesday... inspired by WOW bloggers

This week I discovered (probable as one of the last on Instagram) the account of Kirstin Lagerqist (@krickelin) and fell head over heals in love with her style. A true WOW moment. She has a love for traditional Swedish with a modern look and feel. It inspired me and triggered me to create this collage.

The collage seems a bit more modern than what she shows on Instagram. But I need to combine her style with mine in the Lille Lykke collage images. This feels like the start of a series where I make collages in the style and taste of bloggers we all know and admire.

Hello Friday... when colour meets design

I always have a need for colour. I admire the people that can stick to a monochrome palet. It would never work for me. However, I do admit that the items with colour tend to wear out in your interior sooner. So don't go overboard and invest in some proper design you know you'll love a lifetime (or will keep it's value when you wish to sell it).

Kids Tuesday... let's go and create a kids tropical paradise

My kids love to play outside. Luckily we have enough garden around our hide away by the coast as our city apartment doesn't really provide much outdoor space. I've searched for the most fun items to enhance the outdoor experience for kids or to create a fun outdoor look and feel for an indoor play area. With a little splash of the tropical vibes to remember our days in Singapore.

This week I've also watched all episodes of the latest project by Three Birds Renovations and man what a job and what a result. I personally would add more colour but I highly respect what they have achieved and pick my inspirations from their accessories.

Hello Friday... congratulations IKEA on the red dot award!

We love a good bit of IKEA design. This year they had a nice win for the Red Dot Awards. This HAVSTEN outdoor sofa makes my heart skip a beat. Kids Tuesday... the creme de la creme for girls

Kids most likely don't even see the difference. Offer them a bed, a few toys in their room and an overall nice atmosphere and they are happy. However, us mothers we do notice the difference and we love pretty items. Designers know and they keep throwing the creme de la creme of pretty items our way. Feast your eye (and lock your wallet!) as we have some goodies to show you.

Hello Friday... we have our eye caught on some good design

With the Danish poster brand ViSSEVASSE I am never sure if I love their prints or if I am drawn to them as I see them so often in great designed spaces. I think I love them but they don't really fit into my own home. There is something about them that works like a magnet. In the same way I was immediately drawn to this wallpaper. Normally the prints I go for are much more outspoken. But this almost mens shirt like pattern looks pretty amazing. Combined with a delicate pendant lamp and a minimalistic floor lamp makes this a good design.

Kids Tuesday... a splash of colour goes a long way

I love it how a collage comes together. It all starts with one item I come across either on Internet in general, Pinterest or Instagram. If the light switch in my head goes on it's the start of a collage. For this one it was the speckled wallpaper. From there I build layer after layer until happy to present the inspiration to you.

Speckled wallpaper | ByAlex cushion | Little Dorm wallshelf by Ferm Living | Small Sophie floor lamp | Belear home dolce vita pink by Nobodinoz | Chambray longsleeve dress by Corby Tindersticks | Lighthink box by Seletti

I am definately a fan of the ByAlex items. Love the fabric choice and the details like that little tassel. Bonus is that it has a quick clean option if you have spills. The rug is by Brita Sweden and is made from recycled PET bottles. You should feel it as it is incredibly soft. Feels just like fabric. Add some new classics such as the Ferm Living little dorm wallhanger and the Slim Sophie floorlamp and you have an amazing room.

Hello Friday... Dare to be different!

This may take a bit of a dare because of the bold prints and the vibrant orange. But how can you not fall instantly in love with this large throw by Slowdown studio. Maybe if you repeat the seeds print in the wallpaper and combine some of the colours in the rest of the styling you can tone down the madness a bit. But honestly... who would want to. With a design like this you are looking to be different and to stand out. In a good way.

Kids Tuesday.... Where the cool kids hang out

My kids are still young ones but I often think what would be a nice room for an older boy? I so hope my kids won't come home saying I want a soccor room mom. Although I did write a cool inspiration blog about that for an online platform once. I would prefer to stick with great finds and solid good brands to create a special place. A fun room where the cool kids can hang out.

Hello Friday.... things we like, things we love

Why are the things we like always affordable and the things we love just out of reach of my wallet. It brings me to dispair at times. Luckily companies such as IKEA help out with collabs with designers and nice new collections. My plan is to combine the things I like and the things I love and to create a happy home. Kids Tuesday... as if I am drawn to my wild side

Want a room that stands out from the rest but don't really know where to start? My suggestion is start with a killer cool wallpaper. Like this 'Jungle dream'.
I'm a fan of LiveLoudGirl (as she knows) and I watched her MyStories last week where she gave a sneak preview on a wallpaper she was putting up for the boys. I loved the one she showed for the print but I wanted something with a more white background tone.

Party lights | Wallpaper Jungle Dream by Aimee Wilder | Pax and Hart Sir Scout poster | Stay Weird print by Blacklist shop | Menu Afteroom coat rack | Round spotted cotton rug by H&M | A little lovely company Neon style lightning bolt light | ByAlex playmat Velvet brown | Decoris plastic (garden) chair in taupe

So after being inspired by hers and my previous 'sloth' wallpaper the search continued. Leading me to this amazing wallpaper by Aimee Wilder called Jungle Dream. After the wallpaper box is ticked off you need lighting. I've gone for one of those strings with party lights. And than the playmat. I hear you thinking... my teenage boy with a playmat? Mums, all kids need a relax corner and this has a washable cover! Put it over a daybed and you're done! Nice to say a it can be a reading nook but let's keep it real there will be either an iPad or Playstation involved. As for the chair. I am in love. A pretty and traditional design with the modern day looks and comfort of it being plastic and therefor easy to clean. I love this little room and can see it come to life when I close my eyes.

Hello Friday.... enough hibernation let's go outside!

We love to spend time at our #glampingouddorp hide away by the Dutch coast. So when I came across this image by Ruth Hengeveld (she made it for an illustration competition in 2014) I was triggered to look for some fun and stylish campsite items. And these items made it on my wish list (easily!). The EDDYBOY outdoor sofa can be connected to your central heating system making it the most comfortable thing ever. A comfortable place to sit and watch my kids have hours of fun with this AquaFlow water play, or while they sit and enjoy a little picnic at this Fermob Children's Picnic hut or as they cycle round and round on this bananarama veloretti kids bike. Image Ruth Hengeveld | EDDYBOY sofa | Brita Sweden Helmi outdoor rug | Fermob Children's Picnic hut | AquaFlow waterplay | Maxi Bananarama kids bike by Veloretti

Do you know the saying 'the best things in life are free'. I agree, a smile, a hug or a sunny day don't have a price tag. But there are so many more nice things in life that somehow do have a hefty price tag. If only they were free as well.

Hello Friday.... Fresh blue with real treasures

Seletti lamp one, two, three | Poster 'Taurus' by Crisp Sheets | Bedding eye | Mun 11 table by SlowWood | Jacquard woven rug by H&M Home | Terrazzo hook one, two by Zakkia | Leopard love pillow case set by Crisp Sheets

Is it time to freshen up your bedroom than tink about combining affordable with some timeless design. For bedding you have such a wide selection these days that you don't really have to stick to crisp white sheets. It can be fun to make your bedsheets the eye catcher in the room. And I have fallen in love with these terrazzo wall hooks from Australia. Travelling to Oz this summer and have some space to spare in your suitcase do let me know.

Enjoy your Friday and have a great weekend.
See you next Kids Tuesday!
